Working on Cryptstone

OK, I'm not sure quite what to name it yet but I'll post photos soon. The blocks are the size of mold 250, 1/2" long and 1/4" tall. The stone is a natural worn texture with cracks and damage.

I have just finished the molds for a bridge and a basic block mold in this new style. My intent is to use it for a "city of the dead" reminiscent of The Lord Of The Rings paths of the dead. However, the worn stone will look perfectly right in dungeons of any kind.

I'll update with photos as I can.

I'm also looking forward to seeing them. I'm currently getting back into Bolt Action with the new V3 rules. After updating my US Army I plan on using Hirst molds to make some terrain for the game. Will post when I can.

Well, let's see if we can post photos on this thing. The firs photo is of the completed bridge. This bridge only takes four castings of the mold.

The next photo is that of the cryptstone basic block mold. Here I've put a standard 28mm figure next to it so you can see how the size relates.

I'm currently working on the instructions page and all of the other stuff that goes into putting new molds onto the web site and shopping cart. It will probably take me around a week to get it all done.

The cryptstone basic block mold will be known as mold #20 and the bridge mold will be mold #24.

Thanks,
Bruce Hirst

I like the texture of the stones and the uneven look of the wall with some of the stones recessed. It will be a nice addition to the collection of molds. Looking forward to the instruction page.

Hey Bruce,

Do you find the random recessed stones harder to paint than your 'normal' brick molds?

I really like the uneven look.

I painted these using the exact same dry brushing method as all of my other projects. Since the bricks are recessed, they naturally appear darker because the dry brushing cannot reach down as well into the recesses. It works really well.
